HOW ITIZY STARTED
Itizy is a gourmet ice cream truck serving handcrafted ice cream and sorbet launched by Kenneth Chen and Ann Yu. The idea started years earlier through our love for ice cream and when we realized many local gourmet ice cream brands were either not made locally, purchased and stored in bulk to be resold, or made elsewhere and re-branded. So we set out to make truly local handcrafted ice cream. All of Itizy's ice cream use only fresh cream, milk and eggs from Hudson Valley farms. The ice cream and sorbet flavors are handcrafted in small batches right here in New York City. This ensures our ice cream is one of the freshest and most delicious treats you can purchase in the city.
We make all our flavors from our own original recipes, which we made and enjoyed for years. Early on we realized freshly churned ice cream using natural ingredients simply taste better. Having both grown up on pre-packaged ice creams from the supermarket, we were amazed tasting freshly churned ice cream for the first time! Making our own ice cream is always fun and exciting - we fondly remember our Rum Raisin ice cream where each raisin bursts of rum. Our new line of Asian flavors put a delicious new twist on classic Eastern desserts we love.
We love traveling and together we visited over 25 countries, many of them developing nations. Through our travels we often came across many poor families struggling to put food on the table. We firmly believe that no child should go hungry and everyone can help, no matter how big or small, a person or a business. We made this idea a core foundation of our business model through our Scoops for Meals commitment. This is a key reason we started Itizy. We are also committed to minimizing our impact on the environment, we only use environmentally friendly utensils. Working together, we can make this world a better place.
